Carbohydrate and Amino Acid Dynamics during Grain Growth in Four Temperate Cereals under Well-Watered and Water-Limited Regimes

Grain development in cereals depends on synthesis and remobilisation compounds such as water-soluble carbohydrates (WSCs), amino acids (AAs), minerals environmental conditions during pre- post-anthesis. This study analyses the impact of water stress metabolite (WSCs, AAs nitrogen) dynamics between source (leaves stems) sink (grain) organs triticale, bread wheat, durum wheat barley. Plants were grown glasshouse under well-watered (WW) water-limited (WL) regimes (from flag leaf fully expanded until maturity). The results showed that stem WSC content apparent mobilisation to grain much higher triticale associated with its larger size number. In four cereals, weight number kernels per spike positively mobilisation. After anthesis, AA concentration leaves was lower than grain. grain, main terms Asn, Pro Gln bread, Val regime reduced plant cereal species, but it had no clear effects general, less affected by WL other cereals.
